
With over 35 years of experience in the Financial Services Industry, Rick specializes in assisting individuals and small businesses with creating a financial plan for life and aligning their investments with their moral and ethical values. He also assists them with reducing their current taxes, planning for retirement, and efficiently transferring their assets to their chosen heirs.
In 2018 Rick became a Certified Kingdom Advisor after completing the required 21 training modules. Since 2010 he had been a member of Kingdom Advisors in a membership capacity only. The certification is granted to financial professionals who have demonstrated themselves to able to apply biblical wisdom in counseling clients, technically competent, ethical, and practicing biblical stewardship. Kingdom Advisors was born out of Larry Burkett’s Crown Financial Ministries in 2003 under the leadership of Ron Blue.
He is currently working toward a Master of Science degree with an emphasis in Legacy Planning from The American College of Financial Services. Founded by Solomon S. Huebner in 1927, the College has a rich history in financial services education, standing strong as the standard bearer for quality. The master’s degree with a concentration in legacy planning offers Rick the opportunity to specialize with classes that not only provide the required electives for his master’s degree but also simultaneously fulfill the requirements for the American College Designation "Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy" or CAP issued by: The American College of Financial Services. The program provides the knowledge and tools one needs to assist clients, non-profits, and churches to articulate and advance their highest aspirations for self, family, and society. The courses provide an insight into the process of planning for impact in the context of family wealth, charitable giving strategies, philanthropic planning, tax tools and techniques.
Rick is a graduate of the Institute of Christian Service at Bob Jones University, and he received a B.S. degree in Pre-Seminary from Baptist Bible College & Seminary.
For several years, Rick has had the honor and privilege of serving on the Foundation Board of Trustees at Clarks Summit University in Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania (formerly Baptist Bible College of PA, Clarks Summit, PA). His primary responsibility entails providing fiduciary oversight of the foundation’s activities. Plus he also serves on the marketing committee which seeks to implement the strategic planned giving and fundraising objectives of the foundation. The mission of the foundation is to cultivate biblical stewardship for individuals, Clarks Summit University, and other biblically based ministries. At home, Rick serves his community as a Dave Ramsey Counselor and as a Financial Peace University presenter and instructor. He is also an active member of his church and serves as a deacon, adult teacher & small group leader. Most recently, Rick became a board member of Preserve Marriage Ministries which exist to preserve and strengthen covenant marriage as God has purposed.
He is a past board member of Indiana Right to Life of Kokomo and the state board of directors of Indiana Right to Life. He is a past board member and co-founder of Habitat for Humanity of the Kokomo Community, past board member of the Legislative Affairs Committee of Citizens for Decency of Kokomo, past President/Founder of Central Indiana Christian Broadcasting (WIWC 91.7 FM Moody Broadcasting Network), past sponsor of Promise Keeper’s Men’s Ministry to Washington, D.C.
In his spare time, Rick enjoys running mini-marathons, marathons and reading biographies of great American preachers. He ran in the 2018 Boston Marathon as a charity runner for Massachusetts Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired.
Rick and his wife, Sara, have been married for over 41 years. Sara is a graduate of Bob Jones University with a B.S. degree in chemistry and an M.S. degree in natural products chemistry from Ohio State University College of Pharmacy. She is the Chemistry Laboratory Supervisor and Lecturer at Indiana University - Kokomo (IUK). They have one son, Brian, who is a graduate of Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Indiana with a B.A. degree in economics. He is married to Aubrey and they have provided Rick and Sara with one of their greatest joys: Three Grandchildren.
